Jennell Evans is Co-Founder and CEO of Strategic Interactions, Inc., an award-winning firm in Fairfax, VA that pioneered live simulation training for improving decision-making, minimizing risks, and developing leaders. Jennell leverages her workplace design background with 20 years of experience in group facilitation, leadership retreats, strategic planning, organizational development, and simulation-based training to private, public, and non-profit organizations.

Jennell has worked with diverse organizations, such as Ann Taylor Stores, AOL, Sunrise Senior Living, Cablevision, Deloitte & Touche, Lockheed Martin, Discovery Communications, Time Warner Cable, Fidelity Investments, Northrop Grumman, Ernst & Young, Special Olympics, National Geospatial Agency, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and many others. Jennell has authored several articles on topics such as “Navigating Through Difficult Conversations,” for client publications and national magazines. Her firm’s unique training approach has been featured on 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, Nightline, and the subject of numerous articles in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times.

Prior to Co-Founding Strategic Interactions in 1990, Jennell was the Washington, D.C. Regional Director of Stevens & Wilkinson, an Atlanta-based architectural firm. She holds a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Certificate of Instructional Design and a Masters of Organizational Development from Marymount University. Jennell is qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Emotional Competency Inventory (ECI). Jennell is a member of the Northern Virginia Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Chapter as well as the SHRM national organization.

Jennell, an LFI Class of 2000 graduate, serves as the 2011 Chair of Leadership Fairfax. Jennell was Chair of the Emerging Leaders Institute in 2003-2004, and received the LFI Torchbearer Award in 2004. Jennell also serves on the Reston Center Advisory Board of Marymount University.

Michael Ferraro

Michael is a motivational trainer and speaker who is know for delivering highly interactive and a variety of training programs. He is also an executive coach, helping executives and leaders enhance their people and business skills.

Michael has been a session speaker at the national conferences of the Society of Human Resources, the American Society of Training and Development and the American Bankers Association and has many published articles on coaching, training and workforce investment to include a recent interview in the Wall Street Journal. Michael is currently an advisor to ASTD in their public policy area.

In the past, Michael was very active with Leadership Fairfax. He is a 1998 graduate. For 5 years after he graduated from the program, he helped to facilitate both the opening and closing retreats. At the opening retreat he also facilitated the DiSC profile for the new class members. He was also on the Board of LFI and its Executive Committee, as Chairman of the Development Committee. Under his leadership, LFI instituted new programs, such as the Circle of Sponsorship Breakfast and the LFI Community Service Project.

In 2000, Michael was the first recipient of LFI’s Torchbearer Award, as LFI Member of the Year.
For the last eight years, Michael has conducted Leadership Arlington’s Resource Directors orientation training. Prior to starting their 10-month coaching assignments with their program teams, he presents a half-day preparation program with these individuals. They discuss their changing roles throughout the program year, and he shares tips in running/leading effective team meetings. Michael also gives insight on how, by using the DiSC model, teams can be more productive and deal with conflict more productively.

Michael serves and has served on many boards in the Greater Washington area, including the NVTC TechPAC, the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, Marymount University’s Board of Visitors, and Goodwill of Washington. He is also a member of the public policy council for ASTD and their 2009 international conference program committee. He was appointed by Governor Warner to the State Workforce Council, and he was a member of the Workforce Investment Board of Northern Virginia. Michael was the co-founder of the Greater Washington HR Leadership Awards. In the past, he was a board member of the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the NVTC Foundation.

Dr. Applewhite has an eclectic experience base that he brings to the leadership community and to the nation at large. He has over 29 years of diverse and challenging leadership experiences, coupled with a solid foundation of continuing education. Wayne is an Adjunct Professor for Boston University’s Metropolitan College. He was the Director of Boston University’s Metropolitan College Graduate Military Programs in Virginia from 2003 to 2006. Additionally, he has been an associate professor, adjunct professor, instructor, lecturer, and teacher, at many other colleges and universities, as well as the Associate Dean for the School of Business and Technology at Excelsior College in NY. Wayne also served our country as a member and a leader in the United States Air Force.

Enjoying people and sharing ideas with them, Dr. Applewhite has been a successful national/international independent consultant with such clients as the Consulate General in Hamburg, Germany, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, better known as NATO, in Brussels Belgium, AMTRAK, and the National Board of the BDPA, just to name a few. As an independent consultant with international experiences and talents, Wayne is viewed not only as a speaker, a consultant, and a leadership developer with a diverse audience expertise, but more significantly as a life long learner and mentor. Wayne loves to read! Also to his credit, he authored and published, “Back to the Basics: A Handbook for Success in America,” and more recently, co-authored and completed another manuscript, titled, “Whose Vision is it Anyway?”

Wayne enjoys teaching and learning in the areas of Leadership, Process Improvement, Change Management, Team Building, Translating Vision to Practice, Project/Program Management, and Self Efficacy on the micro, macro and mega levels. Wayne developed and introduced a great tool called, “The SIP³”© Model, for Strategic Thought, and another that he calls the “Environmental Influence Model” which speaks to Active and Passive Strategic Positioning and Learning.

Wayne received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Resources Management from Troy State University, a Masters of Arts Degree in Management and Supervision with a concentration in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University, and his Doctor of Management Degree in Systems Management from Colorado Technical University.
