2009 Gala and Auction A Big Success

More than 400 people packed the Fairview Park Marriott on Friday, November 6th to party, bid and celebrate at the Leadership Fairfax Gala and Auction. After two hours of heavy bidding on the more than 200 silent auction items Board Chair Colleen Gillis Snow and emcee Peggy Fox of WUSA 9 kicked off the night and the festivities.

PPC won a fierce bidding war for “the First Drink of the Night”. The prize? Glowing "Cosmopolitans" delivered by Wayne Hill.

Next was the first “Heads or Tails game”. More than 200 people vied for the chance to win the Wii and the Wii fit, and ultimately it was Phil Sparks, LFI ’03, who walked away with the prize.

Following dinner, guest auctioneer Ike Swart revved up the crowd as they bid on the live auction items. Competitions between the groups ensued as guests tried to win the wine tour for 12; the Outer Banks beach house; the Ultimate Reston Town Center Adventure; the Julia, Drew and Wayne Global Dining Adventure and the African Safari.

The final fun of the night was the last "Heads or Tails", which was won by Tania Hindert, LFI ’04, who took home the Apple MacBook.

Thanks to all of our sponsors and friends who helped make this night a rousing success.
